Foundations of Cyber Security

Welcome to the Foundations of cyber security course. After completing this short course, you will have the necessary understanding of foundations of cyber security to continue towards more advanced topics in the field. You will gain knowledge of the characteristics of computer systems and applications that are critical for cyber security. You will develop your expertise in the role of information security within computer systems and application software, understand the vulnerabilities in networked systems, and learn how malicious parties might exploit them. Additionally, you will learn why systems and software must be designed to be safe and secure from the beginning, rather than treating safety and security as added features. Covered topics include fundamental concepts of information and cyber security, cryptography and software security, basics of firewalls, and security of online services.
